TRAVEL DOCUMENTS

  ISSUANCE OR EXTENSION OF TRAVEL DOCUMENTS

There are 4 types of Israeli travel documents, as follows:

  1. Passports
  2. Travel Document In lieu of National Passport
  3. Travel Document
  4. Laissez Passer
PASSPORTS
  1. If you have an expired Israeli passport, and less than 10 years have passed from the date it was issued, it can be extended.
  2. If you have an Israeli passport and more than 10 years have passed from the date it was issued, or if its pages are full (with visas, stamps, etc.), it can be replaced.
  3. If you had an Israeli passport and it was lost/stolen/mutilated - it can be replaced.
ISRAELI TRAVEL DOCUMENT IN LIEU OF NATIONAL PASSPORT
  1. If you have an Israeli travel document in lieu of a passport which has expired, but less than five years have passed from the date it was issued, it can be extended.
  2. If you have an Israeli travel document in lieu of a passport and more than five years have passed from the date it was issued, or if its pages are full, you may replace it with a new travel document.
  3. If you had an Israeli travel document in lieu of a passport and it was lost/stolen/mutilated, you may replace it with a new travel document.

TRAVEL DOCUMENT
  1. If you have a travel document which has expired, but less than five years have passed from the date it was issued, you can have it extended at an Israeli mission.
  2. If you have a travel document and five years have passed from the date it was issued, you may go to an Israeli mission. to obtain a new travel document in its place.
ONE-TIME TRAVEL DOCUMENT

If an emergency trip is necessary to Israel only and, due to special circumstances, it is not possible to issue a passport, a one-time travel document may be issued, valid for 7 days (only in places which have direct flights to Israel).

You must submit the following forms, together with 2 photos, in person, to the nearest mission:
  1. Registration form for an Israeli national abroad.
  2. Application form for a passport or travel document.
There is a fee.

EXTENSION OF TRAVEL DOCUMENTS

In order to extend the validity of an Israeli passport/travel document, the following forms are required:
  1. Registration form for an Israeli national abroad.
  2. Application form to extend or change a passport/travel document.

You must submit the application together with the travel document in order to continue processing the application.

A passport may be extended on condition that the validity of the passport will not exceed 10 years.

An Israeli travel document in lieu of a passport, or a travel document may be extended for a maximum period of two year (subject to limitations) and on condition that the validity of the document will not exceed five years.

ISSUANCE OF A TRAVEL DOCUMENT WHICH HAS EXPIRED OR IS FULL
In order to receive a new document, you must submit the following items:
  1. Registration form for an Israeli national abroad.
  2. Application form for a passport/travel document - 2 copies
  3. Two recent passport photographs, showing a front view of the applicant's face, neat dress, in either black and white or colour; Polaroid (not video).
  4. The old passport/travel document
Submit all of the above to a mission for continued processing of the document.
A new passport will be issued for a maximum period of 10 years.
A new travel document will be issued for a maximum period of 5 year.

There is a fee for issuing a new passport or travel document.


ISSUANCE OF REPLACEMENT FOR LOST/STOLEN/MUTILATED TRAVEL DOCUMENT

If your passport/travel document has been lost/stolen/mutilated, you may obtaina replacement.
The following items are required:

  1. Registration form for an Israeli national abroad
  2. Application form for a passport/travel document and
  3. Form attesting to loss/theft of passport or travel document
  4. A statement from the local police that you reported the lost and/or theft of a travel document.
  5. Two recent passport photographs, showing a front view of the applicant's face, neat dress, in either black and white or colour; Polaroid (not video).

You must submit the above forms in person at a mission and identify yourself by means of an Israeli ID containing a picture.

In this case, a passport or travel document will be issued for a period of one year only, after which it is possible to extend a passport for a maximum period of 10 years, and a travel document for a maximum period of 5 years.

Issuance of a passport or travel document entails payment of a fee.
